| | Backup Hi... Tried this question earlier in another group, but didn't get any response. Please let me know, if the question is unclear.... I've made a full backup of my C: drive, using Vista's backup feature. I've saved the backup on a local disc, called my E- drive. Then I have formatted the C-drive, and reinstalled Vista. I wanted to restore some of the files from the backup, Documents etc. but now Vista is telling me that there is no backup on the selected drive. Even though I can see the backup in Explorer. It's around 90 Gb... I have changed from Vista Ultimate to Vista Business, but that shouldn't make a difference, or what ? Any other programs that can help me getting access to the backup ? Regards, Kim |

I have been watching and hoping someone had a solution or even a hint, as I have the same problem too. Good luck |

| | Re: Backup It seems like you've taken a Complete PC Backup, instead of a file backup. Do you see information about your last successful backup in Start Menu -> Backup Status and Configuration -> Complete PC Backup button toggled? Your backup should be showing there. This image backup can be restored entirely (system and data files) from Windows RE, There are links to additional information and instruction from Backup and Restore Center -> Restore Computer If you would like jsut to extract individual files from the backup, you'll need to mount the backup VHD file with Virtual PC or Virtual Server. there are articles online to walk you through the process. I made a "Full Backup". Formatted my C: drive and reinstalled Vista. Thought that I could extract single files from the backup, but I guess that's wrong ? Regards, Kim |

Where are these articles? The only thing I have found was a reference to mounting the Complete PC Backup VHD file using a tool from the Virtual Server beta? Are there any articles that give the instructions using VPC 2007?
