Windows Explorer doesn't show files created by other apps

I am running a query in a web application and downloading the resulting file
to my desktop. I'm running Windows Vista Home Basic. When downloading using
web app, created new folder on my desktop and stored the file there.

When I go to Windows Explorer, neither the folder nor the file are visible.
However, I can open the "attach file" option in another web app like Gmail,
and can see both the file and folder and it will successfully attach to the
email.

Also, cannot see folder and file, if I do a "file open" using MS apps like
Excel or Word, etc.

I am the only user on this PC and my account is set to administrator access.

I used the same web app and successfully downloaded and found files when
using Windows XP. Problem only surfaced when I started using new PC with
Vista.

Thanks!

Did you look in Users/<your user name>/Desktop?

name"\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\
