| | transfer files from XP to Vista using CD?? Hello, I recently had my old XP computer crash (irrecoverable), and have since gotten a new computer and installed Vista. In looking at my old cds, I realize that I had made some backup cds using XP's "Files and Settings Tansfer Wizard". I've already tried the "Migrate files and settings from one computer to another" feature of Vista, but it won't let me transfer the files. I realize that the settings may not transfer, but what I'm really interested in is the pictures of my family that I may have saved on it. Question: Is there any way I can retrieve the files (not necessarily the settings) from the cd that I've created? (Note: the cd that I have has a folder structure as follows: FAST|USMT2.UNC. Under that folder, there are three files: IMG00001.DAT, IMG00002.DAT, and status). Any help would be appreciated. URL |

| | RE: transfer files from XP to Vista using CD?? Time to bring this up to top. I have the same problem. I asumed MS made a tool similar in Vista, to the one in XP, so i made a backup in XP, formated and sold the comp, bought a new one, this time with Vista installed, and now i can't get my contacts and mails back. (That's the only thing i used to backup, rest i can live without.) So how can i retrive the info in the USMT2.UNC folder..?!
