Customize Vista's System Restore?

In Windows XP, I could customize each drive to have a non-default size
(low as 200 MB), disable, or enable for the system restore feature. In
Vista, I cannot customize each drive. I can only enable and disable it.

Did I miss this option in Vista?

Thank you in advance.

There's this option at the command line, although how well it works I don't
know

vssadmin resize shadowstorage /?

I recall a thread a while back where it was suggested that it doesn't work
as intended, due to a bug (?). May be worth a try though. Let us know if it
does the trick.

Did you try using System Restore to take you
back to a time prior to when this began. While System Restore is meant to
only restore your settings and registry to a specific point in time, as a
precaution, your data should be well backed up before using it. Start
Menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore.

It ha worked fine on the 4 machines I have done it so far. The only thing I
did notice was that it did not take first time on one of the machines. This
had to be done on these machines because system restore was using up to 50%
of the HDD. I set it to 5 Gig on each machine.

Umm, I am not restoring anything. I just want to customize it. Please
reread what I typed.

I'm sorry, Phillip, I think that was meant for a different thread and
somehow I accidentally posted it in this one.

Phillip - There is a MS site for reducing System Restore. Do a Google search,
or go to "howtogeek.com" home page. I've used his advice and it works. Wayne

http://lifehacker.com/software/windo...age-254365.php
for anyone who cares. I wonder why MS disabled this. I think it is a big
waste to have GBs of system restore points if I had an one TB drive
(153.6 GB used for system restore points) or something. :/
