Date of eml file changed

Hello,

i have a network with 5 pcs, one with win xp, the others with vista.

On the xp there are some *.eml files. When i mark such a file with one of
the vista pcs the date of the file is changed, without doing anything. how
can that be?
The problem is that we backup all files which are changed, so the old eml
files are copied again and again and that costs a lot of time.

Thanks

Martin

Define "mark", here?

..EML are dangerous files that often come from outside the system,
either as saved email "messages", or delivered as attacks.

So my guess is your av is scanning these files when they are touched.

I would exclude .EML from "data" backups, both because they are
dangerous file type, and because they are from "outside".

In XP, no matter what email app you specify to be the default, .EML
files will "open" with OE. This in turn exposes exploitable surfaces
to the content of the .EML, which may include deliberately malformed
embedded inline files, attachments, scripts, URLs, etc.

Re: Date of eml file changed

it is definitely NOT the panda antivirus .. i uninstalled it, but nothing
happened, same problem.
the eml-files are generated by our own program. theay are ok.
