.txt file questions

1. is there a way to determine the history of a given .txt file (how was it
created, what application, when, was it changed or converted to something
over time, etc.) for example, whether the file was created from a MS word,
NotePad, WordPad, etc etc, whether the format was changed??

2. determine the log history of a file's timelines (e.g., for a given file,
there's a time stamp that shows when was it created; but if the computer's
overall time setup, the clock, was changed then the file will show that
changed time, and later the computer clock can be reset to the accurate time;
would the file history have log info that showed all such time changes at the
computer and/or file levels)

Re: .txt file questions

The only way I know of to check for such info is to right-click, choose
Properties, click on the Previous Versions tab and see if any info shows up.
I am pretty sure this will only apply to previous versions that were on your
computer. Previous Versions uses shadow copy (backup copies).

As for info about application evolution, I don't know of any way to get that
kind of info ... metadata for txt files ... it could happen, I guess, but
don't know of any app or OS that would track such info for simple .txt files
.... and time stamps/sys time changes ... more metadata ... something could
be out there that does this sort of thing but I don't know about it ...
someone should write it and call it Snoopy ... can you imagine how big the
database would be if it tried to track every kind of file? And that would be
_only_ for stuff on your own computer ... vanilla
