sending files as a webmail attachment

I have some files that will only show if the compatibility files button is
turned on. I need to send some of htese files as attachments using a webmail
client such as yahoo. When I try to attach these files, I browse to the
folder they are stored in but they do not show up and there is no way to turn
on compatibility files from the browse window. Is there a way to send these
files as attachments using webmail?

Re: sending files as a webmail attachment

Hi,

If you navigate to this location, you should find the compatibility files:

C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore

They are most likely in the Program Files subfolder in the Virtual Store.

Re: sending files as a webmail attachment

OK, I can see the file when browsing to it with explorer and choosing
"compatibility Files" but not when browsing to it using the browse feature to
insert attachments within the webmail.

Re: sending files as a webmail attachment

Open Explorer, go to Organize, Folder and Search options, select 'Show
hidden files and folders' on the View tab. AppData is a hidden folder. It
should then appear when you use the browse feature.

Re: sending files as a webmail attachment

You are so right! The missing files are there and I can also attach them to a
webmail with out problems. Thanks for the help!
Just one more question, why? Why are they not in the folder I saved them to
to begin with?

Re: sending files as a webmail attachment

Are you are saving your files to a subfolder of C:\Program Files?

In your program's Options dialog, can you change the default location (path)
of your documents to a path that is under your account name?

For example, it could be

C:\Users\(Your Name)\Documents\ProgramName Documents

(you may have to create the folder there first). Then Vista won't redirect
your files, and the path won't be hidden. After the initial program
installation, Vista moves user files being written to the C:\Program Files
sub-directories to the user's VirtualStore folder, since the Program Files
folder is on a security level equal to the Windows folder itself, with
TrustedInstaller as the owner.
