Vista Sync False Advertising

After the fourth crash of my laptop of 5-years I upgraded to a new one which
came with Vista Home Premium. I ALWAYS used PCAnyWhere to sync my laptop with
my desktop. It's a piece of cake to do so with PCAnyWhere. Unfortunately I
would have to upgrade to a newer version of PCAnyWhere for it to work with
Vista. After reading all the MS hoopla about the capabilities of the new SYNC
feature, I decided to just upgrade to Vista Ultimate so I could sync with my
Networked device. I am EXTREMELY disappointed with the poor design of SYNC
incorporated in Vista. It is totally bogus the statements that one can keep a
specified folder on the laptop in sync with a corresponding folder on the
network. I earnestly recommend that Microsoft redesign this application to
make it so. The "Offline" feature is not satisfactory. Nor is the "Folder
Share" subscription.

I've been in this business for over 40-years, and, my friends, this is the
poorest new feature MS has come out with yet.

If you document the issues you are seeing, someone might be able to help.

First, you should post this message to the
microsoft.public.windows.vista.networking_sharing newsgroup. Here is a link
to that group.

There is also a blog available, maintained by the Microsoft Core File
Services Team, that has an endless amount of information on the new file
protocols in Vista. Here is that link with the results of a search for
"Sync".
