| | Vista has Indexing issues I have been having the problem of Windows Explorer crashing whenever it was opened, and anything that uses it. I have had the problem on other systems and it seems to be a problem with the indexer. I just unintalled and have not crashed again. If anyone is having problems with Explorer crashing it might be the thing to try. I will keep the post updated on my progress. Enjoy the Vista and good luck, iam bennu |

| | Re: Vista has Indexing issues PS. Just a note. The indexer that I am refering to is the one that I loading from the windows program options. I don't think that the "Indexing Service" loads by default with Vista. Is there annother that does load by default that Windows uses? I think that the Indexing Service is loaded by default but it only indexes the user's files, you can set it to index more by typing index in the start-menu search-box and chooseing Indexing Options. What the differance between that one and the one in Windwos Features is beyond me. -- Erik Wikström |

| | Re: Vista has Indexing issues Erik I think that the optional one indexes more files. I reloaded it as I found that I still had the same problem just less of one. Whenever the indexer is on and I open explorer or a dialoge box in a program it crashes. I will just have to make sure for now that I use the system when it is not indexing. I wish that you could set it to index at certain times. Maybe I can turn the service off until I am not using the system. iam bennu "Erik Wikström" <Erik-wikstrom@telia.com> wrote in message news:%23LOBatsnGHA.3440@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > On 2006-07-03 10:08, iam bennu wrote: >> PS. | | Vista has Indexing issues For your informational consideration, I find that if I go to Administrative tools/Services and pause the indexing service until I am not using to system I have a lot better odds on not crashing/restarting. Then before I take a break or retire for the night I resume it. Seems to be working, iam "iam bennu" <iam@iamARTevolutions.net> wrote in message news:27A7D4FE-625B-4105-9BB6-BE2BDFBD92BB@microsoft.com... > Erik > > I think that the optional one indexes more files. | | RE: Vista has Indexing issues My explorer ALWAYS crashes if I search images or videos. Of course an automatic report goes off to MS, but I've had nothing back. My reliability monitor has lots of pretty colours as a result. |

| | Re: Vista has Indexing issues There were a couple of builds some time ago that crashed for a lot of people with indexing. I seem to recall setting to US English settings stopped it - or of course shutting off indexing. -- Richard Hay Windows Vista Build 5600 RC1 (x86) Windows Live Butterfly http://WindowsObserver.com "Spirefm" <Spirefm@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:84E9A9A0-852D-4034-8F92-88B98EA0A0A7@microsoft.com... > My explorer ALWAYS crashes if I search images or videos.
