Start Menu - program search issue

I use Windows Mail for my daily email tasks, and would like to be able to
open the program by using the vista search bar built into the start menu. The
problem is, when i search for "mai" it brings up Windows Mail, and I can hit
enter and load the program. However, when I search for "mail", it returns:
"No items match your search." I have it set to index both the start menu and
my programs directory, and have even tried to rebuild the index.

It seems kind of strange that Vista would recognize that when I type "mai" I
want my mail programs, but when I actually type "mail", it gets confused...
and this in turn has -me- confused.

If anyone could help it would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Start Menu - program search issue

Yes this is not expected behavior. I've heard of one other person having
this issue, although I'm afraid we haven't been able to reproduce it
internally and so we don't know what is causing this.

If there's anything particularly unusual about your system or applications
installed that might be helpful.

Re: Start Menu - program search issue

Oh thank goodness, I've finally found someone else with the same problem.
The word I have issues with is "photo" ("phot" works great, but no results
for "photo"). Not a show-stopper, but WHY!?

I'm thinking it might have something to do with a program called FileMenu
Tools, even though I've uninstalled it. Another idea was that I somehow
messed up during the uninstall of an earlier version of Start++ a while ago.
I also have NTFS Link Shellextension (not that I suspect it, but who
knows...).

I also have a partitioned hard drive setup, which I know caused many
problems when I first tried to setup Vista.

Anything sound like something you have? Or do you have ideas? Hopefully
there is something common between our computers that will explain this
problem.
