| | BIOSHOCK - unable to save due to "Read Only" errors. Hi. I bought Bioshock on release day. I played it alot up until the Fort Frolic Area. I stopped playing for a couple of months, and the other day i decided to go back to it. However, i cannot load any of my save games or save any new ones, and as such (because of the autosave feature) My game is now totally unusable. It will always go dark and hang on any loading screen. I now own a £40 coaster. Not happy about it. I think this is due to the bioshock save folder in documents being set to read only. This is an option that i cannot seem to change, if i untick the box, and click apply, when i go back to it, it is set to read only again. This makes sense due to bioshock needing to write files to this folder and being unable to, therefor crashing. I dont understand how this problem came about, and i would really REALLY love to fix it, Any help would be appreciated it. I have all the latest drivers for everything, and i am using Vista Premium. Thanks. -- Jekkles ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Jekkles's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=33694 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=839297 http://forums.techarena.in |

| | Re: BIOSHOCK - unable to save due to "Read Only" errors. OK I'm not sure where Bioshock keeps it saves games, but find the folder, right-click on it and go to Properties -> Security. Make sure the Users group, or your user has writable access, if not add it through Edit. You may need to carry this out on individual saves within the folder too. -- Paul Smith, Yeovil, UK.
