Game Compatibility

I can't get Command & Conquer:Generals or Tropico loaded onto my computer. It
has Vista. I've read where C&C is compatible. I'm not sure with Tropico. Can
someone help me? I've tried running it as XP with SP2. Thanks

I have some problems with this two I tried loading 3 games on to my computer
C&C generals, star wars empire at war and Deus Ex and all three are running
slow to name just one problem. I also had XP and upgraded to Vista

I just gotthis message in my email from the guys at lucas arts: Currently,
the program is not supported on Windows Vista. This is a new operating
system that was not available for testing, so we cannot guarantee the
compatibility or functionality of the program in that operating system.

Also, you're running with 512Megs RAM, I'd recommend no less than 2Gigs for
gaming in Vista.

Assuming your computer model is a Sony: PCV-RS712, I checked the Sony.com
support page, and there's no specs posted, like what kind of RAM your system
uses, or if you have an AGP or PCI-e slot available.

Also found this little tidbit:

This decision is based on test results generated by installing and using the
Windows Vista operating system on a PCV-RS712. These results did not meet
our standards for basic functionality and support. Therefore, Sony will not
release Windows Vista compatible drivers for this model.

That could bite ya, but if you upgrade your system it'll probably work OK.
You might be able to get the game running OK if you upgrade all your system
drivers. Look for drivers for the nVidia card at nvidia.com and the sound
card, do a search for realtek drivers.

You have 512megs ram as 2x256meg DDR PC-3200 ram. You can replace the 2
sticks with 4x512megs of DDR PC-3200 (400Mhz) ram MAX, just ask any nice ram
vender. That's the maximum the system will support. Don't use ram sticks
larger than 512megs.

I don't know if you have an AGP or PCIe slot, but more than likely it's an
AGP slot, so you might consider getting a new AGP video card. Something like
an nVidia 7900 GS or ATi 2600

That'll help the game performance under Vista. Not sure about the software
company saying the game isn't supported in Vista. Guess that's the lazy way
of saying, we can't afford to put out a patch for this game, not enough
demand.
