PCI Video Cards

I just ordered a new 8600 GTS NVidia graphics card. It says it uses PCI
Express. Will this just plug into a PCI slot? I've never heard of PCI
Express.

PCI express (PCIe) is totally different than PCI so the 8600 will not
fit in your motherboard :-(

Cancel the order. You will need to order a card for a PCI connection.
Newer motherboards have PCI Express (PCI-X) connectors.

Re: PCI Video Cards

That would all depend on your motherboard...chances are if it is 5yrs old or
newer it is either pci express or agp.....Please provide the group with
brand and model of your motherboard and that will get you more accurate
info.....

Re: PCI Video Cards

A five year old motherboard probably wont have a pcie slot. If you have a motherboard that old you may be advised to upgrade. There are some great cheap motherboard and cpu bundles. Are you going to run vista on this machine?
