can i play Windows XP games On Windows Vista?

i got a new laptop about a month ago. its an HP 120gb hard drive and 2gb of
RAM. i wanted to do some gaming with it but i was looking for some older
games like Halo CAll of Duty 1 and CAll of Duty 2. i've been hearing things
that you cant play windows XP games on windows Vista is this true or not

Halo for PC plays on Vista. I don't know about the others..

it depends on the game, I have heard the same thing. The only advice I can give you is to research the game beforehand. Some xp games will work.

I have Vista Ultimate X64 and Call of Duty 2 works fine on the machine

Yeah most games I have tested work well on vista, some need the latest DirectX Redistributable for 9.0c (November 2007).

u shouldnt have a prob,but if u do try following these steps :

1. go into the folder the game is installed in & find the ".exe" application
file for the game(most likely will have the game name).
2. right-klik on the file & select "properties"
3. u should see a tab that says "compatibility" - u can set the application
to run in Windows XP mode if u choose.

i do a lot of gaming & cant remember an instant where it was necessary,but i
do it on occasion just to check out if the game runs any better in xp mode.
