Crysis + Nvidia GeForce 7900 GTX

First post. Hoping someone can help

My current system is a dual boot of XP Pro x86 with SP2 and x64 Vista Enterprise.

Intel Conroe E6600
4GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 7900 GTX
ASUS P5B Pro motherboard

I have not have any joy playing Crysis on the Vista install. Works fine on the XP Pro install. In both cases the graphics drivers for the card are exactly the same version (although downloaded for the relevant operating system) yet the graphics are a weird semi transparent affair.

Last night I tried the new beta drivers for my gfx card (with Vista) which were tweaked for Crysis by all accounts. Exactly the same result.

Has anyone else had this issue and resolved it? Or am I stuck waiting for Nvidia and EA / Crytek to release patches and / or drivers to fix the issue.

I want to enjoy the new DX10 shiny shiny. So far the only game I have played on Vista is Eve online, although the new DX9 version is pretty awesome it is not a FPS.

I believe 7900GTX cards dont support dx10 very good without two running in SLI-mode, even then they will not perform well running many dx10 games.

The 7xxx series don't support DirectX 10 at all. So by the OP using Windows
Vista to get DirectX 10, simply won't work anyway.

Need the GeForce 8xxx series, or Radeon 2xxx series or the Radeon 3xxx which
support DirectX10.1. Only the high-end cards from those can perform good in
DirectX 10.

Thanks for confirming this. I could not find any yes or no on if the 7900GTX supported DX10 or not. As it does not it is time to budget for an 8800GT.

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to disagree with you there, you see I have 2 Geforce 7900GTX's running in SLI mode on Windows Vista Ultimate Edition x64 and when I go into Dxdiag it says I'm running DirecX 10 and not 9.
