Vista - Problems with a couple of games

I've just recently picked up Sid Meier's Railroads! and Age of
Mythology. However, when I'm playing the games, both of them frequently
flicker to a black screen. When I exit the games, I get the message
"driver igfx has stopped working and has recovered." It has made
gameplay impossible, since the screen will go black, then flicker back
as though it was fixed, but then it would go black again. What, if
anything, can I do to fix this problem?
