Vista - script errors

help i have this game i downloaded on my vista laptop and everytime i go to
play itit has a window popup saying that there is a script error and director
player error, and can i fix this all other games seem to work but this one.

Click start and type directx then select Microsoft DirectX Diagnostic and
check that all tests run properly, if not then update directx and if you
still have problems then try directx forums.

I had a similar problem myself but I cant remember what it was with.
