Crash when finishing a round in BF2142

I have a Q6600 (overclocked to 3.2Mh), 4 gigs memory, dual 8800GT video
cards with a xfx 680i LT motherboard. I'm running Vista64. This seems to
be a problem that I just started having while running Vista64 (don't
remember this problem with Vista32, but I could be wrong).

After a round of titan, when the explosions are supposed to be going off,
the game freezes completely causing a hard crash. Only pressing the reboot
key frees it. I checked the EA board and found an answer to this problem
(probably not Vista though) and completely removed the game, re-installed
it, installed the 1.40 patch only, and then updated Punkbuster. This time I
got a soft crash. I got an error message something like "memory.dll all
allocated attempts failed for size" then a number. I was able to exit the
game and continue using the system.

Anybody else heard about these crashes?

I'm running the game in normal mode. I tried running it in compatablility
mode for XP SP2 but then it couldn't find the CD.

Thanks

I have the same issue with mine. At the end of the round it crashes
and also if I hit the escape key during a game.

Core2 duo 2.4gig, Nvidia 8800GTX, 4 gigs of RAM, plenty of hdd space,
Windows Vista Ultimate + all patches as of Feburary 2008, latest video
drivers from Nvidia... latest punkbuster doesnt fix it either.

Perhaps the issue is the amount of memory on the computer?

The game runs fine under WinXP for me.

I have been having issues with another game (The Witcher) but in my quest
for a fix I ran across a few articles concerning BF2 and a hot fix KB940105
from Microsoft.

Here is just one http://tinyurl.com/2mgqct or Google 'BF2 kb940105'

Here is the link to KB940105 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940105 Make
sure to view your installed updates to see if it is already installed.

Hope this helps
Dave
