Vista Home Premium got confused when uninstalling a game

1. I have a gateway model gm5638e with one DVD r/w multiple drive and Vista
Home Premium OS version.
2. I was playing chessmaster version 10, with chessmaster cod 1 in DVD drive.
3. I went to the add/remove programs to uninstall age of empire II and; the
OS prompted me to put the age of empire II cod in the DVD drive. This is when
all the problems started. (I removed the chessmaster cd and put the age of
empire cd in the drive, from that point on the system still showed the
chessmaster icon for what was in the DVD drive). When the install was
completed the age of empire icon was still on the desktop, when I click the
desktop age of empire icon -- chessmaster would lunched -- WHY?
