Vista - Problem with quake 4

Hey fellas

I just installed quake 4 and updated it to 1.4.2 too. but it just would not work. it sometimes just goes into the black screena and then an error comes back saying "This program stopped responding" and sometimes it doesnt even go to the black screen saying texture compression failed...

Any help?

a Quad core CPU with a 8600 GT? Way to skimp on the video card, next time go
with a cheaper monitor and an 8800 gt or gtx.

hehe.....even if i went cheap on the monitor i still couldnt have afforded the 8800GTX . Here it costs as much as my whole computer

Oh and i did all that yu told me to.....still not working...pls help

Well the latest version of Q4 is 1.4.2, I found the file on the
http://www.quakeunity.com/file=2482 site, there's a link in the file
comments to a community website... http://www.q4max.com/forums You might
check it out, and see if someone there can answer your prayers. q4max seems
to be a mod that adds bot play and stat gathering for q4. not sure how
helpful it'll be.

Lots of people seem to think Q3 is superior to Q4. Just throwing that out
there.
