Vista - Help with KB940105 for gaming... Sins of Solar Empire

I really need help with this as i keep getting doesnot apply to your system
error whenevr i try to install. I have checked my installed updates and its
not in there. i even
installed vista SP1 and i looked through its documentation and it included
KB940105 update in it. But even after installing SP1 it didnt get installed.
i have searched thoroughly and have found no solution anywhere.

my specs are vista ultimate x86, 2gb ram, C2D 2.0ghz, 7900gs 256mb. and no i
was not
installing x64 version of the hotfix.

please help. i need this to play my games like sup comm, sins of a solar
empire etc. even nvidia suggests to install this update. after starting a
game i can play for about 15 minutes until it gobbles all the ram and then it
hangs up.

With SP1 you already have KB940105 installed. Are you not able to run the
game? What is the error you get back?
