Whenever I try to install a game (Crysis, Supreme Commander, Civ IV, take your pick) from a DVD (or by running an image of the DVD I created through Daemon Tools) the installation will run for about 5 minutes and then, inexplicably, stop working. No error message will appear, nor does vista regard the program as "not responding", it simply goes quiet and no more files are copied/installed. Any thoughts? I'm at a loss. -- millhouse Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

I had the same or similar problem. Any install from a DVD would as you say
stall after about a minute or so. Any install from a CD went just fine. At first I thought I had a defective drive. But, a clean re-install of Vista and the problem did not occur again. Never did find out what caused the problem originally. Just an FYI - this was on a new Dell XPS420. Don't know if this is your problem or not... But try this..
Right click on your Program Files.. Properties, and uncheck READ attributes.. Try running the install again... Let us know if this worked for you.. -- RJB "millhouse" <millhouse.38dh4d@xxxxxx-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote in message news:millhouse.38dh4d@xxxxxx-mx.forums.vistaheads.com...
