Vista - MSXML 4.0

I have Windows Vista SP1 installed. When I try to load MS "Age of Empires
III" I get a 'MSXML 4.0 is not installed correctly' error message. How do I
fix?

I've already reinstalled the game. How do I repair or reinstall MSXML 4.0
using Windows Update?

I had the same problem, but with Age of Mytholodgy and have spent 4 hours finding and trying the various solutions posted in forums on the net including:

- Reinstall the game / updates
- Find the MSXMLENU file on the CD and repair / reinstall this
- Register the DLL by typing regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\msxml4.dll in 'Run'
- Download SP2 and reinstall this

None of them worked for me.

In the end I deleted the file c:\windows\system32\msxml4.dll and through the Control Panel repaired an older version of MSXML 4.0 (I had 3 versions). And IT WORKED! I have my beloved game back.
