unable to install nvidia driver

Hello everyone,
I am trying to install nvidia driver (R180763) 53 MB, which applies to GeForce 8400M and GS. I had it downloaded to my desktop, unzipped it with 7ZIP, and ran it. I was told to create a folder C:\Dell\Drivers\R180763, clicked yes, and it said it's unable to create the folder.( See screenshot link )

So, I opened the OS drive , right click R180763.exe, Run As Admin, and tried to drag/drop to C drive. It said I needed permission, click "try again", won't work.
So, I tried Take Ownership, same result.
Can someone show the the way ?

Hi t-4-2,

Have you tried the drivers from nVidia for your series 8 graphics card to see how they work for you?

Hope this helps,

Hello Shawn,
Went to the link you gave me. Tried to download 175.16. I can't get it to run. Here is what I did :--
1. Downloaded to the desktop
2. run the program, told me Location to save file will be c:\nvidia\winvista\175.16\english. And, if the folder does not exist, it will be created for me. I clicked Next
3.Here come the problems :
a.) popup window : System cannot find path specified. I click OK.
b.) popup window : Error Executing the specified prog.
"setup.exe" ( I clicked OK )
c.) popup window : Unable to execute the specified command line.
That's it. I'm stuck.

t-4-2,

Do you have UAC turned off by chance? I have seen something similar to this with Adobe Reader when UAC was turned off. Be sure that it is turned on and try again.

Hello Shawn,
UAC is always on. In fact I was prompted when I tried to run the program. Tried to run it again. Same result.

t-4-2,

Check to see if the Owner of the C: drive is "TrustedInstaller". If it is not, then this tutorial will show you how to restore it back to it.

Hello Shawn,
There might be the root of my problem. The OS C Security window does not have Trusted Installer listed under Group or user names. And yet, under owner tab, it is listed as "current owner". I'll show you 2 screenshots in a moment.

What is on your permissions tab of that? Because I have a whole slew of things for Groups (4 to be exact) listed on the System tab of properties of C, and the same groups listed in Permissions tab of Advanced settings
