| | Xbox 360 to PC Media Center I am running windows vista home premium. When setting up my xbox 360 for the media center extender the computer does not find it. Both the xbox and comp are plugged into the same modem/router (internet from ATT modem with 4 ethernet ports) and both access the internet without problem. The xbox even shows up as a device in my network map on my computer yet when the setup is running the error message "extender not found" comes up. What do I do to resolve this problem and set my xbox up as an extender for windows media center? |

First I'd check the Network and Sharing screen in Vista, I think you may need some of these things enabled like Media Sharing, but I'm not 100% positive. Usually you only need enable these things if you are sharing with people on your network who may not have direct permission. If you setup your XBox correctly, it'll have permission. I found this on Microsoft.com... http://www.xbox.com/en-US/pcsetup/mcevista.htm Basically you want to go to Media Center on your XBox, get the 8-digit setup key, then go to your Windows Vista box, go into Media Center, select Tasks and Add Extender. Input the number from the XBox and the two should connect up. -- Try that, let us know what happened. Personally I never use Media Center because you can't play Divx through this Interface, which for me is the only reason for using it, but if you were hoping to stream TV signals or use it like a Tivo, that's cool. If you wanna watch your Naruto downloads though you want to go to Media Blade on your 360 and just select videos shared from your PC. -- -A. |
