Vista - Sims 2 played for months but now crashes

Hi everyone
I've been playing Sims 2 for about a few months on Vista Desktop and all of a sudden it just decided to crap out on me. It now quits at the title screen and doesn't respond after that.

I've been told to upgrade my graphics card and RAM. Was also told that the graphics card was supposedly not upgradeable b/c it was attached to the mother board? Here is my DxDiag ...

I tried to search for this for a few days before posting but its starting to bug me. I can't afford another computer but I can slowly upgrade this if its possible to be able to play ALL of my games again.

Download the drivers for your video card from http://www.nvidia.com. Also,
you might update your motherboard (nForce) drivers from the same site.

If that still doesn't work, let us know. Although I think it should work. It
may have been a Windows Update that put a different video driver on there.

with Sims 2), or something you did to your OS (installed a program that
messes around while Sims 2 is trying to do something).

Search your start menu for System Restore. It's a program to undo
changes to your OS without mucking with data files like documents, game
saves, etc.

Tell the program you want to choose a different restore point, then from
the calendar that appears choose a bold date that was the last date you
remember the game working correctly.

This should rewind your system to before your system started messing up
Sims 2, run the game after the system reboots and says "all done". If
the game doesn't run. go into my documents, find your Sims 2 save game
folder and "rename" the folder to something like "The Sims 2.bak"

When you run the game it'll re-make the default save files (takes a
while, but it'll work). Of course the problem here is your saves won't
be accessable, so hopefully the first suggestion will fix the problem.

I just uninstalled it till I get it everything upgraded. That way I can' see if it works on just a clean install. I do think it was something that I tried to install in the game.
