I have spent 4 hours installing and uninstalling with tech support (Downloaded all recent updates) and still cant get it to work. Has anyone else had this issue happen to them? HELP!!!! thanks. (This is the error message I recieve when trying to load the game) Civilization 4: "Sid meier's civilization 4 has stopped working" "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" Vista doesnt give me an option to investigate the problem further. Any help wpould be much appreciated. Thanks. |

| Vista 64 | Re: Civilization 4: "Sid meier's civilization 4 has stopped working" I just recently built the system in May. I am using an EVGA 780i board and 2 evga 8800 GTS video cards. I believe the sound is built into the board as I do not have a seperate sound card. I think all drivers are updated. any other thoughts? thanks for your help. |

| | Re: Civilization 4: "Sid meier's civilization 4 has stopped working" I had the same problem but discovered that the Civ 4 installation overwrites Direct X 9.0c used by Vista. The DirectX 9.0c files with the game are old and actually cause the problem. I downloaded the distributable version of DirectX 9.0c from here:- http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en Once installed my Civ 4 worked flawlessly. Good luck. Dell you can go to Dell.com. HP? HP.com, etc. If you have a custom built system you have to figure out what kind of video card you have and go get drivers from the video card maker. Usually nVidia.com or ATi.com Sound cards are either seperate cards (usually sound blasters (creative.com)) or on the mobo, in which case you have to identify your motherboard and get driver updates from the mobo maker. Good luck. -- Joe |
