Vista, Tomb Raider 1, DosBox, Glide

Is there anyone who was able to run original Tomb Raider in "Glide mode"
of DosBox?

Re: Vista, Tomb Raider 1, DosBox, Glide

Glide is the name of 3dfx's proprietary 3D API.

If the game supports Glide, it will expect 3dfx hardware to be present.

I doubt DOSbox emulates 3dfx/Glide.

I'm pretty sure there are Glide wrappers for Windows-based games, but I
don't know about anything DOS-based.

I doubt it. Glide was a specific API by 3dfx for their Voodoo series of
cards, which were never updated for Windows XP or beyond.

I don't recall them having DOS support either. In any case such specific
hardware tied APIs might simply be too costly to reverse engineer to include
in any emulator.

The Vogon's forum (http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=12346) talks
about Glide support in DOSBox, apparently it's pretty limited, but Tomb
Raider is supposed to work.

Flip through that page and see if anything catches your eye that could
help.

Good luck.

Re: Vista, Tomb Raider 1, DosBox, Glide

I checked (probably) all combinations/options of DOSBox CSVs,
yet no deal.
Also I tried to put dgVoodoo software in the System32 folder, failure again.

Maybe ATI drivers are guilty..

Actually, Glidos run TR1 quite good (and $10 are not a treasure),
though it does not extend the image to whole whidescreen, as DosBox can do.

Try www.tombraidrchronicles.com. They have new patches and links to
everywhere with patches you can use. TR has the most unbelievable fanbase
support and there are patches for it out there for everything. You can get
them by starting there. That's where I got mine when I needed exactly what
you're looking for. Happy Tomb Raiding.
