Vista - left4dead.exe has stopped working

Howdy, I'm trying to enjoy Left 4 Dead but I keep getting the error "left4dead.exe has stopped working" and that only happens when I play online. Offline has never crashed.

My system is:
Vista 64 Ultimate SP1
Athlon 64 X2 5000
Radeon X1800XT running Catalyst 8.10
ASUS A8R-MVP

Everything is all up to date with drivers. This is driving me nuts! Any help so I can enjoy zombie slaying goodness online? Thanks


PS: It just crashed in single player for the first time. Same kinda error.

Hey bro I had the same problem but I have a solution for you which will allow you to play left4dead without the error message and also will enable system information to be displayed in msinfo32. Here's what you do. Be logged on as an Administrator, open cmd prompt as administrator via right click and type in the following command without the quotes "net localgroup administrators NetworkService /ADD". Press enter, you should get a successful message. Exit cmd and try to launch l4d. Let me know if this helped. ;]

Thanks, but I got another fix, instead of installing it to C:\program files i installed to C:\Games. Ever since doing this I never had a problem. I think Vista has some sort of watch on the Program Files folder.
