| Vista Home Premium 64Bit. | Directx 9 Error. I bet you all are sick of this but it's bugging me. I installed The Sims 2 and when I try to play it, the 'Failed to enumerate any Directx 9 compatible graphics adapters in this system!' (I'm sure you know the rest of it.) And I have checked my laptop through everything! I have directx 10, and I have a Nvidia Geforce 9700 GTS video chip. (I think that's the chip.) And everything is enabled. It has plenty of memory and RAM. I just can't get my game working. |

| | Re: Directx 9 Error. If you poke around a bit in the Microsoft Vista support sites, you will find an update that installs DX 9. (c) on Vista. Hopefully, this will solve your problem. Don't feel too bad, I just went through an OpenGL issue with XP and Nvidia drivers that was similar. I ended up installing part of Nvidia's development/monitoring software, which seems to have fixed some registry entries, then the latest updated drivers. That cured the problem. (The last Nvidia driver updates for vista resulted in a slight speed increase on my HP Laptop as well.
