| Home(?) x64 | Odd Call of Duty 4 related internet issue Well I'm running Call of Duty 4 on a Vista 64-bit computer, and I've had a persistent problem ever since I got this computer for Christmas. My internet is on a Linksys wireless network. Whenever I play COD4 and ping the game's master server list my internet just diminishes. I disconnect from everything: Ventrilo, Xfire, etc; my brother gets disconnected from whatever game he is playing at the moment on his computer; our internet is pretty much gone for about 20 seconds. After I am in a game though, everything is fine; its just when I initially start up the game and contact the master server. I do not have this problem with ANY other game, and this never happened with COD4 on Windows XP. I don't know what to make of this, so any help would be appriciated. Thanks in advanced! |

A lot of routers will automatically download and apply the latest firmware from the net, you just have to bring up the router control panel (in a web browser, enter http://192.168.1.1, and enter a password of "admin" (username can be blank) unless you changed the password of the router) Look for Update or Update Firmware. Once updated, reboot the router, your modem and your systems and see if it helps. Older routers you may have to go to linksys.com to find firmware updates. Keep in mind this may reset your wireless password, so you'll need to set it up again to keep your neighbors off your connection. Good luck -- Joe |
