| | Graphical corruption in fullscreen games I am using the most recent Vista 32bit drivers available from nvidia.com for my 7800GT. Games running in windowed mode seem to run fine generally (Guild Wars and Company of Heroes are the games I tested), but whenever I switch to fullscreen mode, the whole screen is obscured by graphical artifacts which I didn't get in the Pre-RC1 build using the same drivers. Unfortunately I can't seem to take a screenshot of this because the corruption disappears while taking a screenshot. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. | | RE: Graphical corruption in fullscreen games I also suffer from this problem - running Business edition on a 7950GT. It also occurs when a Microsoft screen-saver kicks in, therefore not solely games related. I assume that it's a driver problem which may be solved soon - but would like to know for sure. Sorry I came in late to the conversation and the original message isn't showing up in my newsreader, but if you don't mind me asking what the symptoms here are? If you're getting weird graphic glitches when you go 3d, or do something graphic intensive, has the thought been kicked around that your video cards may be defective? I bought a lemon ATi x800 a long time ago, took me like 2 months to realize that the video card might be bad (thought it was a bad PSU, incompatible mobo, or faulty system ram before I finally figured it out). So don't wait around for a driver, if the latest WHQL certified driver doesn't at least run games at their lowest settings correctly then consider swapping out the card for another, just to test it (best buy allows you to buy and return cards, get a cheap-o for testing purposes and return later). Sorry if I'm WAY off, like I said, original thread didn't appear on my newsreader. -a. |

| | Re: Graphical corruption in fullscreen games Sorry Andy, but I really don't think it is the card. Everything was OK with XP, and also can play the games in windowed mode. For reference, the OP described artefacts similar to when the refresh rate is incorrectly set - but I've got an LCD so this isn't the case. It only happens when fullscreen display is used - eg games and also the microsoft screen-savers. Any furthre thoughts welcome! Might check your LCD panel manual, see if there are other compatible settings you can use. I know you don't think it's the card, but have you tried a different card anyways? Just one way to eliminate a possibility. Once again, sorry if you already tried this. nVidia has issues espically under SLI mode, but I'd wager it's getting better. I have a 7800 GT card at home and it's running nicely, I got the drivers from guru3d.com which unlocks the coolbits stuff automatically, but I don't play around with overclocking too much. I hope you get this Matt, sorry I can't think of any other suggestions at this point. -A. |
