City of Heroes and Vista RC2

I'm leaning toward this problem being related to my mouse but was wondering
if anyone else encountered this. I have Vista RC2 on the D: partition of my
RAID array and Windows XP Pro SP2 on the C: partition. Both partitions
formatted as NTFS.

I'm able to install "City of Heroes" on Visa RC2 fine (as a side note, this
is from the "Good vs. Evil Edition" DVD), but when I go to log-in to the
game, I don't have a mouse cursor. I can tell my mouse is moving because
various parts of the log-on screen are highlighted, but it's a hit-or-miss
proposition as there is no true cursor. My video driver is current (from
nVidia's website), however the Logitech SetPoint 3.x drivers on the other
hand refused to install). It should also be noted that this isn't a problem
in Windows XP Pro SP2 (which works fine on the C: partition).

Any thoughts? System specs are:

AMD64 X2 4800+, GeForce 7950 GX2, 2GB RAM, 2x75GB WD Raptor drives in
RAID-0, 500GB WD external drive for backup, Logitech G5 gaming keyboard,
Logitech MX1000 cordless laser mouse, Windows XP Pro SP2/Vista RC2 in a
dual-boot config (additional specs available upon request).

On a completely unrelated topic, I'd like to say that I couldn't even get
Vista RC1 to run with my current config, but RC2 installed without a hitch!

Thanks, in advance!

Joe

Re: City of Heroes and Vista RC2

I don't have a problem with the game, but I have come across something very
similar, when I ran my Lexmark printer preferences, my mouse cursor would
disappear over some the preferences page, though I could still see areas
light up as the cursor would move over it,, just wondering if this could be
related, and its a mouse problem with some programs and not just this game??

RE: City of Heroes and Vista RC2

I'm betting you are running the 96.85 nVidia drivers aren't you? I had the
exact same problem as have others (there is a discussion thread about this in
the City of Heroes forums). I reverted back to the 96.33 drivers and the
problem went away.

Re: City of Heroes and Vista RC2

Kalex,

Exactly! I downgraded to 96.33 as you suggested and now everything works
flawlessly.

Thanks for the tip!
