Battlefield 2 Special Forces

I installed Battlefield 2 Special Forces, and first found out I needed the
upgrade before it would run on Vista RTM. Now, I can play regular BF2 quite
nicely, but BF2 Special Forces is so choppy, that game play is impossible. I
have a 3.0ghz CPU, 2 gigs or ram, and a BFG Geforce 6800GTOC video card. Now
this should more than handle the game play, but BF2 Special forces is
literally unplayable. Anyone else have this problem, and maybe find a way to
solve it??

The ever comical alias in your name. :-( Truly original.

Anyway, what drivers are you using?

I am using Nvidia's 96.33 drivers from their site. I tried using a set of
96.85 drivers, but they do not give me a 1440x900 resolution as an option.

Re: Battlefield 2 Special Forces

You could try the recently leaked nVidia drivers from guru3d/laptopvideo2go.

Other than that there's not much else to say as it's probably a driver issue
and that won't be officially solved until Vista launches (in my opinion,
anyway).

Mark

Re: Battlefield 2 Special Forces

But I'm not playing on a laptop, I am playing on a desktop. Will these
drivers work on a desktop as well??

Re: Battlefield 2 Special Forces

Yes. They will work.

You may need to use a modded .inf file. Instructions can be found on the
laptopvideo2go forums.

Re: Battlefield 2 Special Forces

I discovered it is only the night missions that are causing problems. Also,
The drivers you suggested did nothing. As a matter of fact, they wouldn't
even allow me to run my 19" widescreen at its native resolution of 1440x900.
I ditched them, and guess I'm stuck with only the day missions.

Re: Battlefield 2 Special Forces

For me the special forces day maps playeed fine, but the night maps where to
choppy to be playable. Glad I'm not the only one it is happening to.
