Need help.. eq2, nwn2, MMO's in general

i am having a hell of a time getting any of my MMO's to install correctly or
run once they are installed..

1. EQ2 i get the same error.. "LP_plugin.exe has stopped running" and
the newest issue is as soon a i get logged in i get the error messsage that
the launcher has stopped running. once in game.. if i stay in the same area
and go thru no transitions.. im ok.. but if i hit one transition it dumps the
game..
2. NWN2.. can play solo just fine.. so far.. but cannot connect to any
servers online.. at all.. keeps timing out..

i am in the process of trying to load DDO and lotr and vanguard.. so far
vanguard is the only one that hasnt given im install problems..

i have noticed that on any of them if you dont install and run the game as
administrator.. they will not work at all..

anyway.. pretty frustrated here.. so if someone has a clue.. would
apreciate some help.. i tried customer support.. but all that got me was 2
hours on hold and then when i got some one they disconnected me

RE: Need help.. eq2, nwn2, MMO's in general

LP_plugin.exe is a known error, and not anything to worry about. What it is
designed to do, is send system configuration information to sony. Due to the
security features inbeded in to Vista, the launch pad plugin does not have
access to this information, so will time/error out. Something I have noticed
with the betas, and RC1, is that you really can't run eq2 without
rightclicking on the .exe file, or shortcut and selecting <Run as
administrator>. In my expierence, strange things happen unless you do this. A
member of the Everquest 2 test server comunity since its inception. A major
part of the problem being that everquest tries to lock down as much resources
as it can, in the old windows fashion that led to bsod's, which vista doesn't
like. I know for a fact that the eq2 team is working on this, but I wouldn't
expect a vista specific update for atleast a couple more months. Your zoning
issues are strange tho. Nothing I have heard about from any of the other
testers using Vista, makes me wonder if this is a driver specific issue,
trying to unload system resources from memory, and the graphics sub system,
and and error code lockout, timing out the game. I know that on zone, for a
second or two I will get a screenie of the last frame the opening video was
on before i clicked thru it, and zone loading has taken longer lately, but
that is being worked on. One bit of strangeness for me tho, I run a dual boot
between x86 and x64, eq installed thru the x86 version, and eq2 actually
seems to work better on vista x64 then x86.

With NWN2, all I can say is, Make sure that you either 1. have vistas
firewall turned off, or 2. Have neverwinter nights added to the access list,
otherwise you WILL only get timeouts.

Welcom to the realm of the early adopter. Until next month, very few
customer service locations will help you with vista. The OFFICIAL release
being January 29th, even tho there ARE places you can get it from now, most
places will still claim beta, and either laugh and hang up the phone or tell
you to call back in a month if you still have the same problems.

RE: Need help.. eq2, nwn2, MMO's in general

oh, something else,.. I have witnessed a couple of occurances where even tho
the launch pad plugin pops up an error saying that it has stopped working and
asks to be closed, it is still running according to task manager and using up
quite a bit of system resources. Until vista has been out a while, and sony
has had time to catch up. It would probably be a good idea to hit task
manager and make sure that things aren't running that shouldn't be. somehow I
had 2 occurances of LP_Plugin.exe running each taking between 30-40% cpu
usage and leaving very little for everquest.exe
