Vista - Half Life 2 + Vista Ultimate 64bit = Hang at start

I am trying to run Half Life 2 on Vista 64bit and it is hanging while
loading. I assume that it is having issues loading the 64bit version of
Halflife 2 because all of my other steam games run fine. Is there a way to
force 32bit?

It is also showing up as "Half Life: Source" in the games explorer

I would like to add my system specs:

AMD X2 4200+
Nforce4 dual X16 motherboard
Nvidia 8800GTX
Creative Xfi Fatality

I am seeing that a lot of people are having issues with Nvidia, perhaps this
is the reason.

I would bet the problem is with your 8800GTX card.

Yes it is very likely, but all of my other source games work. They are all
32bit which leads me to believe 64bit support for source in vista blows.
Maybe 64bit for the 8800 cards just sucks. Is anyone else in here having
issues with 64bit Vista and Half Life 2? I noticed a thread about issues
with Win XP x64 at the valve forums, but it seems the issue was fixed for
them. I am having issues a week after the issue with 64bit was apparently
resolved.

I had a similar issue with 64bit Nvidia drivers for the GF7950. I reverted
to the 32 bit version and it fixed it. This will get fixed soon by NVidia.
