Mouse Jumping all over

Hi,
I first noticed this while playing Oblivion, but it now seems to happen all
the time regardless of what is running. The mouse cursor will randomly jump
(usually up but not always) for no apparent reason...this is annyoying to say
the least. I just built a new computer for Vista, but I am using the
mouse/keyboard from my old xp machine (where I never once had this problem).
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
Thanks.

Re: Mouse Jumping all over

Can you please post the model and make of your mouse. Not all logitech mice
are supported in MS Vista as I found out with my keyboard and mouse
combination. Thankfully I had a spare mouse that is supported.

regards
Robert

Re: Mouse Jumping all over

Get canned air. Turn the mouse upside down. Use the air to blow away the
accumulated lint and dust from the led/laser sensor.

Re: Mouse Jumping all over

If it is an optical mouse, you can just clean out under the mouse where
you can see the LED. That is a big cause of jumpy mice.

I've had this too. Microsoft Basic Mouse. Either USB or PS2 connector.

Re: Mouse Jumping all over

Nine out of ten times, a driver (usually video) is involved. The other cases
usually end up to be non Microsoft mouse drivers that are flawed, background
software causing problems (Such as Norton), and very occasionaly, malware.

If this is a brand new computer, with only the drivers, hardware and
software supplied by the OEM, I'd suggest you consider returning it.
