Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots

Hi,

I have Rise of Nations (Gold) and I installed it on Windows Vista, but it
does not start. Obviously, I can't even go to the updates section.
What can I do to make it work?

Kind regards

Re: Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots

Must be something about new installs. I installed it when I ran the RC1
version of Vista and the game would not run. I did an in place upgrade of
my XP MCE box, where RoN was already installed, and the game runs fine. MS
seems to be working on compatibility and since RoN is from them, I would
think they would fix the problem.

Re: Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots

Yeah well... the newer version "Rise of Legends" does work, so they'll
probably just will think of it as an old game.

Re: Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots

I have RoL but it isn't nearly as good as RoN and RoN Thrones & Patriots is
even better. I just loaded both on my fresh load of Vista Home Premium and
Thrones and Patriots wouldn't start but RoN plays fine. I don't think I like
Vista as well as I did XP. It seems like nothing works like advertised. Areo
won't work and neither will the games that come with Vista, minesweeper,
hearts, freecell. It isn't the box; AMD 4.8 64x2, 2 gig Ram, 300 gb harddrive
and Ait 1950 512 mb. I really am disapointed with the released version, I had
All the Beta's and really had no problems. I hope the fix is in the works.

Re: Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots

I have RoN on my system and it works, but it is way slower than under XP. Not
just a graphics driver issue either, when you play a quick battle it takes
around 10 times as long for the game to build the terrain etc.

Re: Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots

It does work at the same speed as in XP, over here, the only thing is that I
have to start it twice, the first time it just stop running and the second
it works perfectly
