| | MS Flight Sim X and Vista first Encounter (Frame Rate performance Issue Anyone Know What's a good configuration for Microsoft flight sim X and vista and system with 3.7 rating I know 5.0 recommended but it's not gonna happen for a while I just dumped 500.00 bucks in ram and new video card that meet the minimal but big airports like Ohare JFK and LAX with a lot going on frame rate sucks till I get a plane in the air and above 1,000ft then the frame rate shoots up to 20fps 14 to 20 fps range my local airport small place I have no issues till I get to large airports. I've messed with things but I end up losing in something for something else like I can get frame rate by lowering textures and graphics but then things look crapy then I crank up to defaults and then frame rate goes to Hell I can't find a happy Medium It's driving me nuts hundreds dollars spent after all this I'm thinking I should of gotten a new computer with vista on it. |

Autogen I find is the biggest performance hit. If you're seeing a performance loss compared to XP it's probably due to some video drivers, do you have an nVidia card? -- Paul Smith, Yeovil, UK. | | Re: MS Flight Sim X and Vista first Encounter (Frame Rate performanceIssue Like Paul said, the autogen is a big frame rate killer. Try turning that down a bit. Also, you can try turning the anti-aliasing and AF down. With an ATI x850 256MB and a P4 3.4, I get ~10-15 FPS on a big airport, sometimes less. Normally at small airports, I can get ~20-30 FPS. -- Dustin Harper dharper@vistarip.com http://www.vistarip.com Mikro wrote: > Anyone Know What's a good configuration for Microsoft flight sim X and > vista and system with 3.7 rating I know 5.0 recommended but it's not > gonna happen for a while I just dumped 500.00 bucks in ram and new video > card that meet the minimal but big airports like Ohare JFK and LAX with > a lot going on frame rate sucks till I get a plane in the air and above > 1,000ft then the frame rate shoots up to 20fps 14 to 20 fps range my > local airport small place I have no issues till I get to large airports. > I've messed with things but I end up losing in something for something > else like I can get frame rate by lowering textures and graphics but > then things look crapy then I crank up to defaults and then frame rate > goes to Hell I can't find a happy Medium It's driving me nuts hundreds > dollars spent after all this I'm thinking I should of gotten a new > computer with vista on it. |

| | Re: MS Flight Sim X and Vista first Encounter (Frame Rate performanceIssue FSX is a hog anyway. Did you have it running under XP before? FSX on max can barely run on a top of the line PC. Put some addon's in and it is too slow to play. What you are seeing is probably normal for your system. -- Dustin Harper dharper@vistarip.com http://www.vistarip.com Mikro wrote: > I got ATI X1300 512 Gateway Intel 3.66ghz 1gig ram 2 WD hard drives > rating 3.7 > > "Dustin Harper" <dharper@vistarip.com> wrote in message > news:uJ92#95SHHA.192@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... >> Like Paul said, the autogen is a big frame rate killer. | | Re: MS Flight Sim X and Vista first Encounter (Frame Rate performa I found that by playing with the sliders, I have found a range of anywhere from 5 FPS to 40+ FPS. Most of that difference is with the traffic settings and the autogen, however, the traffic settings seem to have a larger impact on FPS than anything else on my machine. I believe that I've found the optimal settings on my computer... at Honolulu International, I can fly out and land at a constant 38-40 FPS, and there is ample detail and "some" AI aircraft, but no land vehicles.
