| | Why can't MS FS X change it's own disktop display I run my desktop at 800x600 but FSX insist that it be 1024x768. WHY Can't it change the res like EVER other game I have does? Instead it ends and makes me change it manually before I can run it. also when running under Vista it says it has change some of my display setting that are incompatible with Vista Basic......WTF I have Windows Vista Ultimate. |

I got that one a system right after I installed the new video drivers. i think it's referring to the color and themes, not the version of windows, as I was running enterprise version on that box. I'm guessing it was just due to a graphics update. |

| | Re: Why can't MS FS X change it's own disktop display The display setting gets changed to Vista Basic, rather than using Aero Glass. It doesn't have anything to do with the version of Windows you are using. FSX has no problems changing the resolution here. -- Dustin Harper dharper@vistarip.com http://www.vistarip.com -- "bp" <6ball@comcast.net> wrote in message news 26mt2lfckkoesqp9872mjh8i86q1pcg47@4ax.com...>I run my desktop at 800x600 but FSX insist that it be 1024x768. In XP it tells me it needs 1024x768 then ends until I manually change it in Vista it will pop the message but at least open the display settings , again, for me to make th change. | | Re: Why can't MS FS X change it's own disktop display Just tested it. It does say that minimum required is 1024x760 and it brings up the display settings so I can change the resolution. I'll see if I can find a setting that forces it to run at the higher resolution without prompting. I'll get back to you on that one. -- Dustin Harper dharper@vistarip.com http://www.vistarip.com -- "bp" <6ball@comcast.net> wrote in message news:r7dmt2ler9sdpq92vulh4d5crget5fanc2@4ax.com... > On Tue, 20 Feb 2007 09:02:52 -0800, "Dustin Harper" > <dharper@vistarip.com> wrote: > >>The display setting gets changed to Vista Basic, rather than using Aero >>Glass. | | Re: Why can't MS FS X change it's own disktop display It seems that the easiest way to fix it is to make another profile (or user) with a higher desktop resolution. Not really a fix or a solution, more of a workaround. It may be fixed in SP1, when that gets released. However, there is some good news. You can use that profile to disable certain services and programs from starting to help maximize your FSX performance.
