Command & Conquer

I have C&C Generals and Zero Hour running fine on a WinXP Laptop, however my
new Vista desktop won't run either of them. I keep getting the mesg
"technical difficulties" and "game.dat is not responding" I went thru the
installation process for both and attempted to download patches and the
patches don't work either. Tried running the compatibility wizard, didn't
work. Please Help!!

Re: Command & Conquer

I have both Generals and Zero Hour running fine here. Install just as you
would in XP, but when it comes to applying the patches, you must right-click
on the patch exe and select 'Run as Administrator', otherwise the patches
won't work. There is no need to use the compatibility wizard.

Re: Command & Conquer

ok i was able to use the patches when i clicked on run as administrator.
however, i'm still getting the "game.dat is not responding" mesg when the
entrance splash screen hangs... this is even more irritating b/c all the
microsoft games i've put on my new computer work fine, but the EA games are a
real struggle :-(
