Vista OpenGL Support

Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
AMD Athlon XP 2500+
1 gig ram
ATI Radeon X1300 pro 256mb agp

I'm having lots of issues when trying to play certain games like City of
Heroes. When using the Microsoft ati 7.14.10.830 driver the game is very
choppy and is either very bright or very dark. When using the new driver
that comes with Catalyst 7.2 from the ati web page the game immediately goes
to the blue screen of death each time I log in. Does anyone know any work
rounds I can try or have any kind of solution? Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Vista OpenGL Support

I'd try the 7.1 drivers, has I had better performance with the,

Not sure why you would get a BSOD with the7.2 drivers. I've used them under
both Vista32 and Vista64, OpenGL support seems slower in 7.2, but not major
issues. Though I will say, that I've gotten a BSOD under them both. But it's
not 100% reproducible.

You might have some other issues going on. have you tried other games ? I
always like to suggest downloading 3dmark05 or 06 from www.futuremark.com
and let it run. if it runs and doesn't crash, then you know it's most likely
the game. If it Crashes as well, odds are it's a problem somewhere with your
system, In this case, most likely with the video drivers

Re: Vista OpenGL Support

Have you tried just using the 7.2 driver installation and not installing the
Catalyst Control Center? The CCC seems to be causing a lot of people
problems at the moment.

Re: Vista OpenGL Support

Thanks for the help. The 7.1 drivers worked like a charm. I no longer have
any graphic issues and i spent 4 hours playing and did not see the BSOD once.
