Vista - games not working on vista!!!!

I have windows vista full version and certain games like battlefield 2142
dont seem to work "punkbuster" also when clicking sound i get the blue screen
of death is something wrong with vista compatability or what??? also is
there a differance between the upgrade or full

Punkbuster needs administrative rights. So right click Battlefield and run
it as an administrator.

How come when I double click my CD drive icon, the disk spins but the game
doesn't run? I have to eject the CD and reload it. BTW, I liked XP. It
worked, didn't crash and was easy to navigate. Unfortunately, I bought a new
PC with Vista and I'm kind of stuck with it.

Well this isn't true - you are entitled to a backgrade to XP Home if you
purchased home premium vista, or XP Pro if you purchased business ultimate

However personally I love vista and games run pretty well flawlessly on my
PC (currently have 20 installed including BF2, Quake3 and Prey - I mention
these because clearly they are not 'Games for Windows' titles and have
supposed 'known' faults, however I am yet to come across any)
I'd be more inclined to see what other faults you may have with your machine
before blaming Vista straight away, perhaps a reload of your system?

And instead of using your autorun to launch the game, use the built in vista
'games' folder, it's fantastic!

Do you get your money back if you "backgrade". I paid over 150 buck for this
os and would expect it to run at least as well as the xp os i left. I don't
feel I should have to change code or go through all the hassles it takes to
get my computer running like it did before. They should have at least
addressed these probs and presented solutions to us before we paid and
download. I have reinstalled my non vista games and none of them work even
after running as an administer. Nothing was wrong with my computer before.
All games worked before without a hitch.
