Vista - AOE II & AOE II Exp. goes to 256 colors in Vista but runs ok?

Age of Empires 2 starts and loads OK but about 5 seconds in it drops to 256
colors. Any Ideas ?

I have been having a problem with AGE of Empires II also. I don't know why
it comes out grainy. the water is all discolored. are u taliking about the
same thing? i have just started getting this problem with windows vista. xp
ran just fine. if u hear anythign , let me know, i'll do the same

Its the same problem, Is your Video card ATI or nVidia ? could be a driver
problem.
