Sudeki Vista Problems

Heya guys!

Well, my brother recently bought Sudeki for PC. It runs fine in Windows XP,
however, I cannot run it any more because I am now running Windows Vista! Is
there a workaround for this program incompatibility?

The installer will start up, then try to extract a certain MSI file, and it
will just close without a word. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Did it ask for admin rights? Try doing it manually by right-clicking on the
setup file and running it as an administrator.

Re: Sudeki Vista Problems

Try installing it through the Administrator account. By default the
Administrator account in Vista is not active and thus doesn't show up. To
activate it and have it appear do the following exactly:

1. Go to the 'START' menu

2. At the bottom of the Start menu in the 'START SEACH' box type "Cmd". DO
NOT PRESS "ENTER".

3. Press "CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER"

4. When the upgrade rights textbox appears upgrade except the upgraded
permissions. That will bring up a CMD box.

5 Type "Net User Administrator /active:Yes" and press "ENTER"

6. Log out of your User Account and log in the Administrator Account.

7. Once your installation is completed be sure to deactivate the
Administrator account again by following the same procedure except
substitute "Net User Administrator /active:No"

Hope that helps.

Re: Sudeki Vista Problems

To install Sudeki in Windows Vista just follow these instructions:

1. Extract the CAB-files "Sudeki.cab" and "Sudeki1.cab" to a directory
like "C:\Sudeki-Install".
You can use WinZip or WinRAR to do so.
2. Copy the *.bat into the directory created in step 1.
3. Run "installer.bat" from commandline using a parameter to specify
the target directory.
i.e. installer.bat "C:\Games\Sudeki"
4. The english game is now installed. To make it german, repeat step 3
with "make_german.bat".
5. Delete the directory created in step 1. Unused language files still
reside in it.

Have fun.

I found the ^^above^^ to be a little vague and had problems doing it, while far from being PC illiterate there are certain functions i rarely use while gaming the above is one of them, combined with this thread being the only source of any fix and no official site or forums to speak of hence the reason it took me awhile to figure it out i got a bit annoyed and so put some time into making sure others (like myself) wouldnt.

Thanks to Yoth's post i have sudeki working on vista: below i will say how i did it as plain and simple as i can...

1. Extract the CAB-files "Sudeki.cab" and "Sudeki1.cab" to a directory
like "C:\Sudeki-Install".
double click and select the file you made as destination--- this bit is simple

download the .bat file (link above) and open it placing its contents into folder you made for cab files-- again easy stuff.

3. Run "installer.bat" from commandline using a parameter to specify
^^ this is where i got lost^^

click windows button type: run (in the "start search" box)

Click run icon at top and arun dialogue box will appear.

now assuming you are installing from C: drive AND onto C: drive AND have called your intalation file sudeki-install type the following exactly into the run dialogue box:

C:\sudeki-install\installer.bat "C:\Games\Sudeki"

obviously change any of the above to suite your differing setup, oh yeah .. then click OK

go to C:\Games\Sudeki click on the .exe enter starforce (bleech i know) code (mine was on actual dvd not manual)

and thats it.. time to play

Thanks Again Yoth you did all the hard work there!!
