To point you in the right direction we'll need to know what soft of video card you have, that can be found by launching Performance Information and Tools and clicking View and print details. To re-install Windows XP, backup any files you want to keep, boot from the XP disc and install over the Vista partition. -- Paul Smith, Yeovil, UK. | | Re: Display driver failure You try calling Sony? http://www.sony.com Look for support, see if they have the drivers for your video card listed. You can also run Unknown Devices... http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3908.html That'll sometimes give you enough info about missing drivers on your system that you can figure out which driver you need to get WoW working. Might also go to http://www.microsoft.com/DirectX and install DirectX. Windows Update (from Vista Control Panel) sometimes fixes missing drivers, can try that too. | | RE: Display driver failure I have a HP laptop with the exact same issue. When I play solitaire, mahjong or inkball the screen goes blank for about a second. It is still under warranty and I've had it "repaired" by HP twice. The first time they repaired the "loose cable connection" even though this problem never occurs when I'm not playing a game. I get it back...same problem. The second time all they said they did was reset factory settings. I got it back yesterday...same problem. I'm totally frustrated trying to find a fix. I'm getting fed up with HP and Vista (if it is Vista that's the problem). Does anyone have any ideas??? | | RE: Display driver failure i have the same problem on my new advent laptop. I do not think it is to do with the make of the laptop, but something to do with Vista. Whenever i play full screen games, the screen will go blank for 1second and then come back saying the display devie ighx has stopped responding but has recovered and it keeps doing it. Any idea how to sort this out? "Ken1948" wrote: > I have a HP laptop with the exact same issue. When I play solitaire, mahjong > or inkball the screen goes blank for about a second. | Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Display driver failure I'm on a Gateway and I'm having the same problem. Whenever I play a game, there will be times where my screen will go blank for up to 3 seconds, then come back with a message saying "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered: Display Driver ialm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." This will usually happen when something is loading from the game, and has been happening less often since I turned down the effects on WoW. |

| Vista 32 bit | Re: Display driver failure To all i have same problem with my vista acer laptop. I am happy to say that i have now fully resolved the problem. Thought i would pass this on to all. I found while playing wow i would get display driver fail messages and brief black screen and then back to the game. After thinking about this problem for while. I downloaded Driver geniuis professional, This engine.. searchs computer my computer and driver that vista search engine said was up to date. After searching with this engine 22 drivers were updated that stopped the flashing, and brief black screens that were happening. Although Driver pro cos little bit of money i found it worth its money. After this all instances of all problems above have stopped. Could i also subjest to the following for computer Advanced system care.. is a very simple tool that will speed up computer and has a very useful clever defrag that will vastely speed up comp. In Game wow most computer screen are displaying on a 1280 x 800.. the preset lvl for wow is lower then that setting the game for 1280 x 800 will have the same affect CaQ game. Hope you find above helpful. |
