Problem with Games Included in Vista

Hi Everyone,

I am experiencing a problem/bug when playing the games that come shipped
with Windows Vista. The problem mostly relates to fonts being stretched but
there is also some weird "jumpiness" with Minesweeper. It's hard (for me)
to explain, so I think it'd be easiest to just show you. I've set up a
little web page with screenshots and descriptions:

http://www.ejproductions.com/vista/gamesbug/index.htm

Any suggestions/help would be very much appreciated!

Thank you,

Eric

I would try the 101.41 Nvidia drivers -
http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_do...etadriver.html

You could also try uninstalling and reinstalling the games - Start>Control
Panel>Programs and Features>Turn Windows Features on or off.

Re: Problem with Games Included in Vista

Thank you for replying Jim. First, I removed and re-added Windows' games,
which didn't work. I wasn't sure about upgrading the video card driver (to
101.41) because it is still beta, but decided to just go for it. First, I
uninstalled the existing driver and rebooted (which resulted in Windows
using the built-in [older] display driver for my card). I decided to try
the games with this driver and, look at that, they all worked properly. I
then installed the 101.41 drivers and, in the process, re-introduced the
problem. At least now I know with certainty that the problem is the video
card driver. I decided to uninstall the Nvidia drivers, and use the default
drivers (which, at least show up in the device manager as "NVIDIA GeForce
7900 GS", so they're not totally generic). I now know I need to talk with
Nvidia about the problem.

Again, thanks for replying- much appreciated!

Eric

I'm glad you found a solution. Graphics drivers still have a lot of catching
up to do.
