Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic

Compatibility problems with Vista premium home 64 bit and Star Wars KOTOR. I
have a new PC, good graphics, loads of RAM etc. I have gone through previous
postings and reloaded using the Win XP compatability option as well as
running the SWKOTOR.EXE directly with XP compat and admin rights checked.
However, I still get the error message telling me it has "stopped working and
Windows will notify me if there is a solution".
Any ideas?

Re: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic

go to there website the game website and get patches and see if you have the
newest drivers. My guessing is you may need to do it in 32 bit also see if
you have the game options video settings right to do 64 bit and your video
card settings are right. You also may need to lower your video settings so
it works.

Re: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic

Thanks, I'll try this. I also have the Nvid 7900GS (I saw from another one of
your posts). But nit being a PC-fundi, I am not too sure how to check/change
video settings. I did check the web site and downloaded what I could (up to
date). I think the key is to run this thing in 32 bit, but I am not winning
here. Also downloaded Windows virtual PC 2007 to try to run this in XP mode,
but this is not supported in Vista Home Premium so i'm not getting support
form MS on this. I'll only get to try all this later in the week, but any
further tips would be appreciated

Re: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic

I'm guessing you're all running NVIDIA. My ATI Crossfire rig runs it
beautifully on 64-bit Ultimate. Haven't tried TSL yet but KotOR is fine.
Sorry about your luck, though I must admit I feel better about my system now.

You are the first person anywhere who claims to have had any success... I'm
surprised if all other people have been running Nvidia cards...

Re: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic

well, if I had the game or knew anyone who did, I'd be glad to try it on my
system as well. it's still in the $20 range on Amazon.com. If it was it the
$10 bucket I would grab it. Maybe I should go see if CompUSA has it in the
cheapo pile

Re: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic

I have Vista Home Premium x64 and KOTOR runs OK until I get to
Dantooine. Then the game becomes unplayable with sections where the fps
dips down to around .1.

I have an ATI X1800 512MB Card. I THINK the game is trying to draw the
entire outdoor area at once and the issue is with drivers. Cat 7.3
drivers were totally unplayable from the start.
