| | Re: Conflict BTW DirectX9 and 10 Well, understandable, you're confusing things a little. DX10 is it's own install under Vista DX9.0L is it's own install under Vista. The two do not work together You can't use DX10, if you don't have a DX10 video card. If you are using a DX10 card, with Vista, but playing a DX9 game, then you are still not using DX10. Only when you play a DX10 game, in which there are currently none available, under Vista with a DX10 card will you be using DX10 Vista ships with DX9.0L so that it will be compatible with all the DX9.0 (and 8 and 7) games. Vista's Aero uses DX9. If you're not able to play games, you might be missing some add-on files, which you can get by applying the DX9.0c runtime updates http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en You might also have a video driver conflict, in which you'll need to see what driver your laptop maker has available for you to update with. What games are you having trouble with and what are the specs of your laptop ? | | Re: Conflict BTW DirectX9 and 10 You didn't mention which video card you have. Also, can you tell me the model number of your laptop. Just so you know I played all of the GDI and Nod campaign of C&C3 under Vista 64. So it should work "Cybethron" <Cybethron@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:4F240932-47FB-4806-9E93-666B451FB64D@microsoft.com... > Well I have a Compaq Presarion Dual Core 1.6 window vista home edition > 1 GB Ram > 256MB VGA > > For the games almost all the games: > Devil May Cry 3 special edition > Need for speed carbon > Prince of persia is working but with some image distortion > The new Red Alert 2007 Tiberium War, you start the game once you start > building a base, the game crash > and some other > Thx for your help > > > "Dale White" wrote: > >> Well, understandable, you're confusing things a little. >> >> DX10 is it's own install under Vista >> DX9.0L is it's own install under Vista. >> The two do not work together >> >> You can't use DX10, if you don't have a DX10 video card. | | Re: Conflict BTW DirectX9 and 10 As you may or may not know, the C500 is the overall model number or series number, on the bottom of the laptop it should have the exact model number like the C502US. But I don't think it matters too much as, most of them seem to use the same graphics card. I will have to say, that's a terrible graphics card to get stuck with and it's not a DX10 card, so you'll pretty much never be using DX10 on that laptop. Here is a Jan 07 driver for the card http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...340111&lang=en Note that alot of people have problems with the newer games and the Intel Graphics card. It's not very powerful. Here's a review of the card http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-G...50.2177.0.html "Cybethron" <Cybethron@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:0DB50444-CE50-4ACB-AE83-13997B281930@microsoft.com... > It's a Presarion C500 > For the videa card it's Mobile intel(R) 945GM Express chipset controller > WDDM > and I have Vista 32 > thx > > "Dale White" wrote: > >> You didn't mention which video card you have.
