Vista - Can't play online

I'm not a big online fan but I would like to dabble now and then. Problem is
I can't connect to any online gaming service. I've tried them all. FEAR, WoW
you name it. The computer will get to the site but never connects. What
doesn't make sense is when I had dial up I could connect but after going to
dsl I can't. I can't even play Steam games because I can't connect to Steam.
I can go anyplace I want on the Internet but online gaming sites are a dead
end. I'm not using a router and I've tried with all security programs shut
down. I even tried on a fresh install of Vista and it didn't work. Didn't
work on XP either. Nobody seems to have any answers. Anyone here have any
ideas?

ISP port blocking ?
Firewall software ?

Cant think of anything else.

I tried connecting with absolutely no security software installed and still
could not get anywhere. This one has got me stumped.

I'm having the exact same problem. Allowed the programs through the firewall,
turned the firewall off, NOTHING. POS.
